Juni- The Last Prayer

One of the elderly women in the audience was so moved by the trailer that she emotionally addressed the crowd stating that this film reminded her of the conflicts in her family as regards to the manipulation of the Dowry Act. “Almost 60-70% of the families in North India have been the victims of the misuse of this draconian law,” she mentioned adding that if this film had been made some years ago, then there would have been widespread awareness of such a nuisance. Taking this ideology ahead, another young lady guest echoed her concern stating that such malpractices lead to the fragmentation of joint families that is the back bone of our Indian culture and particularly conveys the message to the young ones in the families.

Another hot point of debate was a bunch of questions from the audience about the depiction of doubt as regards to the existence of the Almighty in the mind of the protagonist. The actor-director Anurag Sharma defended this query very astutely stated that the film doesn’t and in no way, it prophesizes the non-existence of the Almighty. In fact, he mentioned several case examples including that of people worshipping a simple rock on the sides of a road or a highway. Faith is the most powerful weapon of defence and protection among our Indians.
